ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced mid-level corporate/commercial lawyer great at project management and with high levels attention to detail, a can-do attitude and a versatile toolkit to come in and become our first legal counsel.

Every day you will be working on a powerful mission to help millions, with the responsibility of managing hundreds of millions of pounds.

As legal counsel, you will be deeply involved in strategic negotiations, document drafting, and reviews for both our parent company IFG, as well as Cur8 Capital. We will be relying on you to be our legal defence and you will need the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that can be at times stressful.

If you have experience of Islamic finance – that is excellent. If you do not, you should expect to skill-up fast in your first year. We are one of the most innovative places where this area of law is practiced daily and we spearhead cutting edge practices and lead on market first products.

KEY ATTRIBUTES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• An English law-qualified Solicitor who holds a current practising certificate.
• Proven experience working in the corporate and commercial fields whether within a leading law firm or an in-house legal team.
• You will have experience in fund management/financial services sectors and have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various laws, rules and regulations relevant to these practice areas.
• Solid awareness of the principles of corporate governance, FCA/PRA regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly and be able to influence colleagues at all levels.
• An ability to draft clear and well-structured legal advice and legal documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and a proven track record working in a fast-moving environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Provide proactive strategic legal advice and support to various internal stakeholders on a range of commercial, investment and asset management activity.
• Draft, review, negotiate and conclude a varied range of documentation required to support IFG/Cur8 and its operations, including investment management agreements, distribution agreements, investment fund documentation, financing and leasing agreements.
• Advise on the interpretation of key pieces of existing and upcoming laws and regulations which have/may have an impact upon Cur8 (including MiFID II, UCITS V, AIFMD).
• Act as the Legal Lead on various projects, product development and fund launches.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel, as necessary, and in a cost-effective manner. Taking accountability for obtaining advice, challenge where appropriate and interpret and communicate external legal advice in a commercial and strategic manner for internal stakeholders.
