Our client, a leading practice in this space, is seeking to recruit a lawyer 2-6 years PQE to join its TMT practice specialising in cyber work. Beyond the usual excellent academics and solid City/large regional firm experience you will need a strong litigation background. The role requires good technical TMT experience including of cyber and data privacy matters. The successful candidate will have previous hands-on experience of advising on cyber matters and a strong commitment to and enjoyment of business development is very important. Experience of other contentious data protection matters (e.g. SARs and FOIA requests) would be a bonus but is not essential. The matters this firm gets involved in are often large and high profile so you will need a “can do” attitude, a willingness to get involved and strong organisational skills. You will be a team player who can work with different teams and lawyers across the firm. The firm has one of the leading and most established Technology, Media & Telecoms practices in the UK. It provides the full range of advice and guidance, including in relation to: cyber, data protection, privacy, defamation, media, intellectual property, Freedom of Information, technology, telecoms, IT and communications disputes, outsourcing, e-business, IT product and services contracts and commercial contracts. The Cyber practice is a key part of its TMT Disputes team. The team supports clients and manages a full range of cyber matters including: pre-breach services such as cyber simulations; full incident response management; regulatory investigations; and litigation arising out of cyber incidents. Clients are assisted pre, during and post-security incidents, to mitigate the attendant reputational, commercial and legal risks. Members of the Cyber team work closely with their non-contentious Information Law colleagues, offering a coordinated approach which often results in the effective management and resolution of data protection related matters. This is a developing area of law and the team is busy. There are excellent partnership prospects here.
